From School Year 2020–2021 to 2022–2023, Manuel Lugod Central School recorded no reported cases of mental or psychological conditions. However, a rise was noted in 2023–2024, with 16 cases (6 male, 10 female), followed by a decrease to 7 cases in 2024–2025. This decline reflects the effectiveness of the school’s mental health and psychosocial support interventions.

To address and reduce these concerns, the school implemented several targeted strategies. Under the leadership of Principal Mr. Clinton Badilla, the school strengthened its School Mental Health Program, in line with DepEd Order No. 49, s. 2022. Regular Mental Health Awareness Campaigns were conducted, including seminars and classroom-based discussions on stress management, emotional regulation, and self-care. Mrs. Emma Guimong, the school’s guidance counselor, provided one-on-one counseling and facilitated mental health screenings, while Mrs. Indeperta Badana, the Child Protection Coordinator, ensured early identification and referral of at-risk learners.

Peer support initiatives such as “buddy systems” and mentoring programs were also introduced to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. Additionally, teachers received training on Psychological First Aid (PFA) to help them respond effectively to students showing signs of distress. These multi-level efforts contributed significantly to the reduction of reported mental health cases in the most recent school year.
